Summary: A committee consisting of various scholars from different backgrounds and areas of expertise was formed to examine manuscripts in different languages such as Sanskrit, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, and Marathi, among others. These manuscripts were selected and recommended by the committee, leading to the establishment of the 'Madras Government Oriental Series'. The General Editor of the publications was appointed by the government, and manuscripts were taken up for publication in various languages during the year. The publication includes three short monographs in Marathi, one focusing on the traditional 'plaiting dance', another on horse training, and a third on driving bullocks in cart races. Detailed instructions and technical guidance were provided in these monographs to preserve and promote traditional arts and practices. Substitutions and corrections to the original texts were also made with the approval of the government. Additionally, specific details on the weaving process and dance formations were highlighted in the publication to nurture cultural heritage and traditional arts.
