Summary: The Regional Transport Survey of Madras and Pondicherry was conducted to study the economic growth potential of the region and provide guidance for transport planning, with implications for regional economic planning and industrial location. The study involved predicting future demands for passenger transportation and goods transport based on population and income trends. Despite challenges in obtaining statistical data, the study assessed the present state of transport services, including road, rail, and waterways, and proposed investments for capacity enhancement and modernization.
