Summary:  Manu Vaivasvata. From him sprang the kingly power, Kshattriyas. Sudyumna was the son of Manu, born of the wrath of the gods Mitra and Varuna. Again, through the anger of the Lord, being transformed into a woman, and the wife of the Moon's son Budha, Sudyumna bore a son Budha, who begot on the daughter of Pururavas, Pururavasam. And when he was born he blazed with immeasurable splendours, and was proficient in all Vedic knowledge, the Rigveda, Yajurveda, Samaveda, Atharvaveda, and full of all knowledge of the mind and soul. The deity Sudyumna, desirous of attaining manhood, received again the grace of the Lord.” This passage, from the Skanda Purana, narrates the lineage of Sudyumna, tracing it back to Manu Vaivasvata, who is identified with the divine Brahma Hiranyagarbha, highlighting the divine origin and lineage of Sudyumna and his eventual transformation back to manhood.
